The powerful and soulful voice of Singer Songwriter, Robert Vincent, from Liverpool, has regularly attracted praise from acolytes, including Bob Harris, Paul Carrack, Robert Plant and Mary Chapin Carpenter. The Robert Vincent Trio are Robert himself on guitar and vocals, Anna Corcoran, on piano and vocals, with Danny Williams, on bass.

As the Winner of UK Song of the Year Award at the UK Americana Music Association Awards 2025 for his song, ” Follow What You Love and Love Will Follow “, alongside a highly coveted nomination for UK Artist of the Year, Robert Vincent continues to enthral audiences and critics alike.

The Liverpool Singer Songwriter released his fourth studio Album, ” Barriers ” in 2024.  It reached the Top 10 of both the Independent Album Chart and the Record Store Chart, as well as spending multiple weeks in the Country Music Charts, nestling between Taylor Swift and Beyonce. Barriers is a masterful Album, which secures the place of Robert Vincent as one of the UK’s finest Songwriters.  He recently supported Robert Plant and his Band, The Saving Graces, on a UK and European tour.

We are delighted to bring to Montrose Playhouse a Full Band Montrose Album Launch for ” Bring On The Apathy “, the third Album released, on Fika Records, by the talented Singer Songwriter, Adam Ross, who has been described as ” the Scottish Father John Misty.”

Adam Ross is well known to the Montrose Playhouse audience as an Indie Folk Singer Songwriter, now based in St. Cyrus, just outside Montrose, although originally from Nairn.  In addition to his work as a solo performer, Adam Ross has led the cult eight-piece Indie band, Randolph’s Leap, for over a decade. Adam’s music and songs stand out for their unique brand of articulate lyricism, which blends humour, poignancy, wordplay and offbeat stories.

For this special Full Band Album Launch event, the Band, in addition to Adam himself on guitar and lead vocals, will consist of Gillian Fleetwood ( harp and vocals ), Pete MacDonald ( piano ), Pedro Cameron ( fiddle ), Cameron Maxwell ( bass ) and Owen Curtis Williams, on drums.

This is a first appearance in Montrose and Angus by the award-winning duo of Rachel Davis and Darren McMullan from Cape Breton in Canada.  Rachel, on fiddle and vocals, together with Darren, who is a multi instrumentalist and also on vocals, have played together for almost a decade, as well as being members of the leading Canadian band, Coig.

With a dynamic mix of vocals, fiddles, guitar, banjo, mandolin, bouzouki and whistles, the duo of Rachel Davis and Darren McMullan breathe new life into age-old tunes, while crafting original songs, which feel instantly timeless. Every performance is a vibrant journey through sound – passionate, precise and irresistibly alive.

Rachel and Darren have forged a new path with their latest Album of original songs, entitled ” Home.”  This new project won the 2024 Music Nova Scotia Award for Roots Recording of the Year, as well as earning nominations from both the Canadian Folk Music Awards and the East Coast Music Awards.

Renowned Irish Singer Songwriter, Eleanor McEvoy, returns to Scotland, and to Montrose Playhouse, in November 2026, with her ” It’s Good to be Here ” Tour, a warm, wittty and uplifting Concert, celebrating the simple joy of being alive.

Best known for her world-renowned Hit, ” A Woman’s Heart “, the Title track to the biggest-selling Irish Album of all time, the live performances of Eleanor McEvoy are celebrated for their intimacy, storytelling and musicianship.

Eleanor McEvoy songs have been described by The Guardian as ” touching, inspiring and consoling millions.” They have featured regularly on Screen and T.V., including in the cult, classic series, Derry Girls. Her compostions have been covered by many artists, including Emmylou Harris and Mary Black.

Eleanor writes – ” I cannot wait to return to Scotland and England. I have been loving the concerts over there these last few years. There is a palpable warmth and humour in the venues each night.  With everything that the world is going through right now, it really does feel good to be here ………… and even better to be there!”

Ellie Beaton is a captivating Award-winning Singer from Rothienorman, Aberdeenshire.  She will perform at Montrose Playhouse in trio format, together with Dylan Cairns, on fiddle, and Gillie O’Flaherty, on guitar, as well as accompanying herself on keyboards.

With a commanding voice, which ripples with warmth and confidence, Ellie Beaton embodies the timeless spirit of Aberdeenshire’s vibrant singing style, whilst blending inspirations from across the globe. She was the youngest ever Winner of the MG Alba Singer of the Year Award and in 2025 was crowned as BBC Radio Scotland’s Young Traditional Musician of the Year.

In addition to the songs of her native Aberdeenshire, Ellie will perform a carefully chosen selection of contemporary material, including the Country classic, ” It Wasn’t God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels ” and ” The Island”, the brilliant plea for peace in Ireland, written by Paul Brady.  She has also promised to sing her fine version of ” Baltic Street, Montrose “, the setting by Jim Reid of the Violet Jacob poem.

For many of us, Michael Marra, the Bard of Lochee, was the finest Songwriter, ever produced in Scotland. Michael was Dundee’s gravel-voiced chronicler of improbable encounters and real human truths. His most gloriously surreal imaginings – such as Frida Kahlo finding peace in the Tay Bridge Bar, or King Kong, arriving in Glasgow and being directed to Ibrox ( ” he might fit in “) – were tempered with immense warmth and compassion.

Michael Marra left us some wonderfully idiosyncratic anthems. ” Hermless ” is fast becoming a drolly alternative Song for Scotland;  whilst it is ironic that ” Mother Glasgow “, the song, which many regard as the finest anthem for the Dear Green Place had to be written by a Dundonian.

Lesley Riddoch, the Writer and Broadcaster, reflected on the sadly early passing of Michael in 2012 at the age of only 60 :  ” Dundee has lost its Bard and Scotland has lost one of the few people, who really understood it – kindness, squalor, hilarity, warts and all. Like Robert Burns, Michael was driven by compassion, humanitarianism and a deep-seated hatred of cruelty. ”

17th February 2027 would have been the  75th birthday of Michael Marra.  To commemorate the occasion, we have organised a Concert on Tuesday, 16th February 2027, when a selection of their favourite Michael Marra Songs will be performed by four of Scotland’s finest Singer Songwriters in Dundee’s Gavin Mcginty, of Sinderins fame, Rhona Macfarlane, originally from Montrose, Findlay Napier and Adam Ross of Randolph’s Leap.

Following upon her knockout performance for us two years ago, we are excited to welcome the return to Montrose Playhouse of a special talent in Folk/Americana Singer Songwriter, Amy Speace, originally from Baltimore, Maryland, and now based in Nashville, Tennessee.

National Public Radio have described the voice of Amy Speace as “velvety and achy “, also comparing her to Lucinda Williams. In 2020, Amy Speace was awarded ” International Song of the Year ” by the Americana Music Association for the title song of her Album, ” Me and the Ghost of Charlemagne “, released on Proper Records.

Amy Speace was originally discovered in 2006 by Judy Collins, who made Amy one of her first signings for Judy’s Record Label, Wildflower Records. Judy has described Amy as ” a wonderful artist, a superb writer of songs, a performer, who has beauty and transformation in her writing and her music.  Her songs have transformed my audiences, as well as transformed my life.”
