About Montrose Folk Club
Montrose Folk Club has been in existence since 1985 and is one of the longest-running venues for live music in Scotland. We present regular Acoustic and Folk Music Concerts, generally every second Thursday evening throughout the year. There are occasional extra concerts and short breaks in July and at the Festive Season.
Our Programme is intended to bring to our Audience a wide spectrum of Popular and Acoustic music. In addition to mainstream Folk Music, both traditional and contemporary, we also present Blues Performers, Blue grass, Americana, New Country Music and Contemporary Songwriters.
Scottish Folk Artists
We have presented Concerts by all the best known names on the Scottish Folk Music scene, including Dick Gaughan, Archie Fisher and Michael Marra. In addition to the established artists, we also have a Policy of showcasing as many of the exciting new Scottish Folk Music performers as we can.
Montrose Folk Club is also a popular venue for touring Folk Musicians from all over the world. From England, regular visitors include Martin Simpson and Martin Carthy and the Irish Folk Music of The Sands Family is always a joy. Recently North American guests have included James Keelaghan and Harry Manx, from Canada, as well as Brooks Williams from the USA. We have also presented artists from Australia and Europe.
Montrose Folk Club is a great place to enjoy listening to live Acoustic Music. It is a relaxed, friendly environment and normally there is a chance to chat to the Performers. There is no Club Membership, so everyone is welcome to attend. Just come along and have a great evening!
Singers and Musicians Welcome
Montrose Folk Club always welcome Singers and Musicians of all types of Acoustic or non-electric music, whether Blues, Country, Blue grass or Pop, as well as traditional or contemporary Folk.
